Migration to new hosting, and to Mediawiki 1.25.2 has happened. The move seems to be (largely) working at first sight, though there will be some wrinkles to iron out as we go. There are some notable additions to the platform:
* Semantic Media wiki (plus semantic map data),
* the ability to embed map data using the [[Special:MapEditor]] page
* mobile-aware layout using the MobileFrontEnd extension,
* Scribunto scripting
* more backend improvements for administration

Update to 1.34.1 on 20 April 2020. Migrated MySQL database to 5.7 and updated PHP to 7.2.

==Acquisition==

When [[Fondazzjoni Ċentru għall-Kreattività]] was created to operate the St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in 2000, it immediately started putting on visual art exhibitions within the building. Over the years, many of the artists whose work was exhibited within the space donated one of the works from their exhibition through a long-established practice common in Malta in state-owned spaces used for art exhibitions. This practice has led to Fondazzjoni Kreattività amassing a substantial collection of art works, which are considered to be its permanent collection and, by extension, part of the National Collection of works of art.

In January 2016, Fondazzjoni Kreattività reviewed the way works entered its permanent collection and ceased the practice of obligatory donation from artists whose work was exhibited at St James Cavalier. Since then, new works have continued to enter the collection under arrangements that are fairer to artists. This change followed an initial research project to gather feedback from artists, curators, cultural heritage professionals and others involved in the sector. This research project included a display of some of the works from the collection, entitled [[Past! Present. Future?]] as part of the [[Spazju Kreattiv]] programme. In most cases, this was the first time the works of art had been viewed in public again since they first appeared at the original exhibition they came from.

Following on from [[Past! Present. Future?]], work on compiling a detailed catalogue focusing on Fondazzjoni Kreattività’s art collection at St James Cavalier continued in January 2017.

Apart from the works of art themselves, which can be considered an archived document of the artists’ work, the collection custodians set out to identify which are the most important basic elements that remain after a creative project has been exhibited to the public – the documents. Proposals, press releases, artist profiles, photos, reviews, posters, videos and other material can provide an indication of the significance of the context in which the works of art were originally presented. This material can help researchers to better understand the artworks and also the work of the artist in a broader cultural spectrum. These items are being systematically collected and archived by curators through 2017 and 2018.

The preservation of the collection includes the creation of a comprehensive catalogue set for publication in 2020. At that point, it is envisioned that the collection's relationship with the larger National Collection administered by MUŻA will also be addressed appropriately.

In 2015 works from the collection started being re-displayed as part of the Spazju Kreattiv programme. [[Past! Present. Future?]] was the first exhibition containing works from the collection, most of which had not been seen in public since they were first acquired.

Five further opportunities to systematically display works from the collection have been included in the Spazju Kreattiv programme at St James Cavalier and abroad between 2016 and 2019.

In the three instances of ''Art from the Fondazzjoni Kreattività Collection'', works have been displayed grouped chronologically, covering periods of approximately six years of Fondazzjoni Kreattività's existence:

*[[Art from the Fondazzjoni Kreattività Collection: Documenting 2013-2018 (exhibition)|Art from the Fondazzjoni Kreattività Collection: Documenting 2013-2018]] occurred between January and April 2019.

As part of Wiki Loves Art 2019, works in the collection by women artists were shown in the [[Art+Feminism 2019 (exhibition)|Art+Feminism 2019]] exhibition.

In September 2018 works from the collection were taken to the Luxembourg Court of Auditors for the [[Id-Dinja M'Għadiex Ċatta]] exhibition.

These activities are intended to draw attention to specific aspects of the Fondazzjoni Kreattività collection and the artists whose work feature in it, as well as provide an environment in which documents can be gathered about the artists themselves and their works. Related activities include discussion group events, oral history sessions, wiki editathons, and one-to-one meetings with artists, curators and the estates of deceased artists.

'''Joe P Smith''' (born 1959) is a photographer and artist absorbed in an artistic quest that comprises photography, the graphic media and painting. He studied art and design in Malta and Florence, Italy where he was awarded scholarship in 1983.

He has been in photography since 1979. He is a member of the Malta Photographic Society of which he won the coveted Photographer of the Year Award in 1995 and also a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Professional Photographers. He is often called upon by both organisations to judge competitions and give lectures. In 1995 he was made Associate of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain and later Artist of the International Federation of Photographic Art. In 2001 he was the first and only Maltese photographer to achieve Fellowship status of the Malta Institute of Professional Photographers. In November of the same year he was also made Associate of the Master Photographers Association of the UK. Joe has also been responsible for the design of various logos of established companies, brochures, packaging, CD sleeves and postage stamps.

Joe has a strong preference for monochrome photography especially that depicting the performing arts and his name has become synonymous with evocative pictures of Jazz musicians who performed in the Malta Jazz Festival. Environmental portraiture is also a strong point of the artist and in 2009 one of his photographs depicting a village cobbler won the overall prize in a EU photographic competition entitled “Cultures on My Street”. No mean feat considering that there were over 2,000 top European photographers competing.

Having been an avid darkroom worker, he has explored many ways to reproduce monochrome effects digitally with some great results. For Joe, photography is not just a recording medium and his exhibition of abstract photographs in 1995 is ample evidence that his artistic endeavours do not bind him down to one avenue of expression. Over the years he has developed a unique style where emotion is the key ingredient.

In October 2002 he was awarded the prestigious Overseas Master Photographer Award of the Master Photographers Association of the UK in the Fashion/Illustrative category. In 2003 he received no less than three Awards of Excellence in the same Awards and in April 2004 he received the highest accolade in photography when he was successful in attaining Fellowship status of the MPA. This he did with a panel of twenty monochrome pictures depicting jazz musicians who played in Malta since the inception of the Malta Jazz festival. In the first ever British Professional Photography Awards in October 2004, Joe also carried away the Overseas Press and PR Category with one of his jazz pictures. During 2004 he also achieved Fellowship status of the British Institute of Professional Photography. In the same year, the Malta Institute of Professional Photographers bestowed him with an Award of Recognition for his contribution towards the medium.

In 2005 he was once more the recipient of Overseas Pictorial and Illustrative Photographer of the Year category at the same awards and was also finalist in the Fashion category and the Press and PR category. Later in the year he was made Fellow of the SWPP-BPPA and he was invited to lecture and act as judge during their Convention in January 2007. The same organisation also invited Joe to deliver lectures in the UK and Ireland in July 2007 and January 2009. He has now also accumulated a number of awards from the last 4 Conventions.

In September 2007 Joe was invited as an artist-in-residence at Gozo Contemporary, a programme that is the initiative of internationally acclaimed Maltese installation artist Norbert Attard.

'''Charles Paul Azzopardi''' is a fine art architectural photographer, a self-taught long exposure guru, a diving and hyperbaric medicine physician and a quasi-writer. Often-times he is also a keen technical sidemount diver, spelunking the depths of the oceans. He was born in a place very close to where he grew up, went to university very close to where he now lives, which is fairly close to where he grew up (it’s all in the fabled republic of Gozo, natch). He’s been taking pictures for just a few years now, 4 actually. He really does not care what he makes images with, as long as he gets to make images. He likes making imagery. With a Canon. Or a Nikon. But really a Canon.

Charles has won a couple of hundred awards (really). Almost none were for his photography (not really). He has won awards in the United States of A, France, the United Kingdom (united, post-Brexit, really?), and several others with equally brobdingnagian names. He has had several magazine articles written about him and his work, several covers and other narcissistic endeavours. His clients include world renowned MOMIX, Cirque du Soleil, and several national dance companies, and several others who will be world-renowned. He has had numerous gallery shows of his work, and while less than a hundred, certainly more than he can count on all of his fingers and toes (of which he has, shock and awe, 20).

His wardrobe of black and/or white clothing is extensive, and he has actually come to prefer Barolo with his fillet mignon. A well cooked fillet of beef will distract him considerably. He does not like opera. He does however, like contemporary dance, flamenco and jazz. Charles has had a beef fillet in a lot of countries all around the world. He flew to almost all of them. In a plane. Whenever he landed, he usually took a lot of images. When he flies back home (also in a plane), there is a nice room to hold all his Canons, all the images (not pix, not pics, not pictures – images) he has made. He likes making storied images.

Sometimes, though rarely, Charles will write something in the third (or is first?) person. It makes him feel a little like Jane Austen but not so prissy. But he never uses the Royal “We”. That would just be too high brow. He has, on occasion, used the French “Oui”. Because, of course, you cannot say no to everything. The artist '''Joseph Wolfgang Ohlert''' was born in 1991 in Prien am Chiemsee (Bavaria/Germany). After graduating from Rudolf Steiner School in Schwäbisch Hall he did various internships working in the set design department of movie productions and theaters as well as an assistant director.

In 2012 he began his studies at the renowned Ostkreuz School of Photography, from which he graduated in 2015. His work is being published in various European and American magazines. His images are regularly exhibited in group and solo shows around the world.

Early 2016 he self published his first Photobook „GENDER AS A SPECTRUM“ which has received a great amount of media attention and been shown in various exhibitions. Working exclusively with analogue photography, his key priority is always to present the people who sit for him as themselves. Parallel to his work in the photographic field he has most recently dedicated himself more strongly to artistic projects – Ohlert hopes to offer a platform to young creatives with a series of self-published art books and magazines.

Her works have appeared at several exhibitions, events and venues, including the Ostrale Contemporary Art Biennale 2019 in Dresden, Germany, which came soon after her first solo exhibition at The Mill in Birkirkara, operated by the Gabriel Caruana Foundation in Malta.

A short film she co-produced in 2016 with Jenny Mercieca, Wild Flower, was featured at the 3rd Istanbul Design Biennale.

Previous exhibitions of her work were held in Malta at Spazju Kreattiv (2018), Palazzo Pereira (2015), BirguFest2014 in collaboration with the Valletta 2018 Foundation, St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity (2013); the Earth Garden Festival (2008, 2010 & 2011); the launch of Strada Stretta’s Splendid Lounge (2011); the Deception collective exhibition at Lascaris Wharf (2010), and Notte Bianca (2008). Other recent work has been exhibited as part of the 2018 touring exhibition Inspired in China, with venues including the Parliament of Malta Building, SkyParks at Malta International Airport, and the Ministry of Gozo.

Red Leaf (2014), a metal seating sculpture by Tabone, is permanently installed at the Verdala Sculpture Garden in Buskett, the official summer residence of the President of Malta.

''' Billy X. Curmano''' is an award winning artist/adventurer and former McKnight Foundation Interdisciplinary Art Fellow. He was trained as a painter and sculptor.

His more traditional objects have been exhibited both here and abroad since a first solo show at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in 1970. Notably, some of his paintings represented the USA in the “III Vienna Graphikbiennale” (Austria). His works have also found their way to the Museum of Modern Art in New York and other prestigious collections.

Billy X. came to music through the back door using soundscapes in “live art” and is probably best known for edgy performances. His more eccentric pieces include a 3-day live burial, 2,000 plus mile Mississippi River Swim, 40-day Death Valley Desert Fast and a sojourn to the Arctic Circle on public transport. He’s won awards for performance and film as well as a solo CD. Billy X. has toured every way imaginable including 6,200 miles and 15 cities in 45 days on a Greyhound Bus and intrigued audiences from the Dalai Lama's World Festival of Sacred Music in Los Angeles to New York City's famed Franklin Furnace. He's been a "Pick of the Week" in the L.A. Weekly and on the City Pages "A List". Journalists have dubbed him the court jester of Southern Minnesota. An exhibition titled '''Art from the Fondazzjoni Kreattività Collection: Documenting 2000-2006''' was held in Space A of [[Spazju Kreattiv]], Valletta, Malta, between the 12th January 2017 and the 12th February 2017. The exhibition included a public talk, held on Thursday 9 February 2017 at 7.30PM.

==Exhibition Description==

Following on from the research project that commenced in January 2016 as part of the [[Spazju Kreattiv]] programme, work on compiling a detailed catalogue focusing on [[Fondazzjoni Kreattività Art Collection|Fondazzjoni Kreattività’s art collection]] currently stored at St James Cavalier is set to continue in January 2017.

Apart from the actual works of art, which can also be considered as an archived document of the artists’ work, we are setting out to identify which are the most important basic elements that remain after a creative project has been exhibited to the public. Proposals, press releases, artist profiles, photos, reviews, posters, videos, and other material can provide an indication of the significant context in which the works of art were originally presented. This material can also help researchers better understand the artwork itself and also the work of the artist in a broader cultural spectrum.

A number of talks and discussions with invited artists and collaborators will be open to the public. These events aim to facilitate an understanding of the methods of collecting contemporary works of art along with points of interest that emerge through the collection as a whole.

This project was held in conjuction with [[Past! Present. Future?]] workshops targeting secondary and post secondary art students.

Art+Feminism is an annual worldwide edit-a-thon to add content to Wikipedia about women artists. Now in its third year in Malta, this edition features a series of curated exhibitions across three sites presenting new works by both established and emerging artists.

Alongside the exhibitions, activities will include a number of Wikipedia editing workshops and edit-a-thons. These activities will further address the gender gap on Wikipedia whilst highlighting the work of women artists and their contribution to the art scene in Malta.

== Jean Zaleski Centenary Celebration ==

Maltese-American artist [[Jean Busuttil Zaleski]] was born on 11 April 1920.
Her association with Fondazzjoni Kreattività dates back to the turn of the millennium when she helped establish what today is known as the Spazju Kreattiv Artists’ Residency programme.
The Centre for Creativity hosted a solo exhibition by her in 2002 and her works have over the years endeared art lovers in Malta and the United States and beyond.
To celebrate the centenary of her birth and mark the tenth anniversary of her passing, Art+Feminism 2020 includes a special display of some of her works located in Malta in private collections and the Fondazzjoni Kreattività art collection.

'''Artist Statement'''

In this project brides are set on beds, often looking at their wedding gowns which they are moments away
from wearing. The beds are either their parents’ bed or their own bed in their parents’ household.

The background for these portraits is symbolic as well. If the bride poses on her parents’ bed, it is mainly
because the mother would have done up the bedroom in anticipation for the big day.
In typical Maltese fashion the mother would take out the best bed linen for the occasion, however some things
remain permanently there such as religious icons and other paraphernalia decorating the bedrooms.

There are brides that pose on their own bed and possibly that could be symbolic of their own
attachment to their bedroom in which they grew up in till that day.

Chellcy Reitsma was born on 30 January, 1976 in Visalia, California, USA. She's originally American of Dutch heritage and grew up in Califonia. She is a singer-songwriter, visual artist, and self-employed cultural manager (producing staged events, concerts, workshops, etc) for hire. She is married to Anthony Mifsud.

She has three university diploma’s: BA in Art History and a diploma of Gallery Practices from Humboldt State University, Arcata California and a BFA in Fine Art (painting, sculpture, drawing) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois. She is also a retired professional dancer, having danced from 1979 -2016. She grew up in California and moved to Chicago,IL when she was 25 to continue her artistic studies.

After graduating SAIC, Chellcy began to pursue a career in dance. She opened her own dance company touring, teaching and performing all over the world. In 2005, she brought a tour group to Malta where she also performed and taught workshops. She fell in love with Malta and the sponsor began bringing her over for tours one to two times yearly. By 2007 she had a second dance company in Malta and was managing both the Chicago and Malta locations. In 2009 she began a slow and painful immigration process to be in Malta. In 2011 she met her future Maltese husband and in 2013 they were married. Sadly due to injuries, Chellcy was forced to retire from dancing in 2016, but this afforded her to pursue another life long interest… singing and songwriting!

Over the years Chellcy had many introductory music and singing lessons, since childhood, via music camps, private lessons, and school classes. Primarily her exposure as an adult to music came from studying Middle Eastern and Latin rhythms to improve her dance knowledge. Now she can play finger cymbals and maracas at a professional level. Chellcy began writing her own songs in 2014 and started on-going weekly singing lessons in 2015 with [[Julie Pomorski]] at [[The Vocal Booth Studios]]. In May 2017, she had the pleasure of performing with, and for, [[Peter Paul Galea]] of [[Tribali]] and [[Norman Christina]] for Peter Paul’s “Philippines Students and Friends” charity benefit concert. She is also taking music and key board lessons with [[Geoffrey Thomas]] so that she can work on her own compositions. Since then Chellcy has released two singles “Blue” in 2016, and “The Three Of Us” in 2017 - produced by [[Beehive Studios]] MT. and will release her first EP, and music video, on the 1st of May, 2018 produced by [[Railway Studios]] MT.

==Biography==
The Meteors were started in 1980 by [[P. Paul Fenech]] ([[guitar]] and [[Singing|Vocals]]), Nigel Lewis ([[upright bass]]/[[electric bass]]) - later of The Tallboys, the Escalators, and the Zorchmen - see performance clip in "Trash on The Tube" feature on Youtube), and Mark Robertson ([[Drum kit|drums]]). Fenech and Lewis had played in [[rockabilly]] bands before, but left their former band, Raw Deal, in order to experiment with a new sound that mixed [[horror fiction|horror]] and [[science fiction]] lyrics with a [[punk rock]]-[[rockabilly]] crossover (as distinct from the slower, psychedelic rockabilly sound of [[the Cramps]]). This sound would later be called psychobilly.

The Meteors played their first show during Rockabilly Night at The Sparrow Hawk in north [[London]], but after being heckled due to their cross between rockabilly and punk attitudes, decided to begin playing shows beyond just rockabilly clubs. They developed a loyal following known as "the Crazies, or Zorchmen" who invented their own dance style called "going mental," a cross between fighting, dancing and [[moshing]]. This would later be renamed "wrecking," and is still a staple of the psychobilly scene to this day. Coupled with Fenech's ritual of spitting (chicken) blood during performances, many clubs believed the band was dangerous and refused to book them. The band began playing at punk rock clubs alongside UK punk bands such as [[The Clash]], [[The Damned (band)|The Damned]] and later [[Anti-Nowhere League]] and the [[UK Subs]]. However, unlike many punk bands, The Meteors would (and still very much do) insist that their shows be "a politics and religion free zone" in order to focus on having a good time instead of allowing disputes between fans to break out.

Due to their large cult following, The Meteors made a short film in late 1980 with comedian [[Keith Allen (actor)|Keith Allen]] called ''Meteor Madness''. It was released as a double feature with [[two-tone]] [[ska]] film ''Dance Craze'' in March 1981. The movie featured four songs, which made it onto the band's first vinyl single. In August 1981, the band were signed to [[Island Records]] and recorded their first full-length, ''In Heaven''.

The Meteors have gone through many line-up changes since, with Fenech being the only original member today. The current line-up includes Simon Linden on bass and Wolfgang Hordemann (who, though not from the original line up, is the longest serving member by far after Fenech) on drums. They have 25 official albums, countless singles, and numerous re-issues and compilation appearances. They continue to record using their own recording studios (Fenech is a fully qualified sound engineer and producer) IN HEAVEN (based in an old church) and also MADDOG STUDIOS (a 58 metre high tower in Germany). These two studios are professional studios used by many bands from around the world. The Meteors have extensively toured [[Japan]], [[Europe]] and [[Scandinavia]], [[South America]], and the middle east. At the time of writing, they have completed well over 5500 live shows (occasionally two per night).

P. Paul Fenech has also released six highly regarded solo albums and plays in many side projects including, the Legendary Raw Deal (rockabilly), The Surfing Dead (instrumental), Cherry and The Devil (rockabilly), The Outsiders (rockabilly). He is also a prolific and successful writer of horror film music and has written extensively for television and many other films (using a pseudonym). He is also a keen gardener and writes a weekly column under the pseudonym Percy Lupton. Nigel Lewis and Mark Robertson went on to play together in the Escalators, a [[psychedelic rock]] band which had minor success, then the Tallboys, a band best known for recording the song "Take a Walk" for the ''[[Return of the Living Dead]]'' soundtrack.

Form the year 2000 with Bronk Productions he worked allot in theatre, taken part in about nine different pantos, taken part in passions plays comedy plays and musical.

With the same company he got great opportunity to work theatre in Germany comedia dell arte, in circus, he worked with different companies in different theatre like, [[ Catholic Institut]] at ]]Floriana]]. [[City Theatre]] at Valletta, [[Astra Theatre]] in [[Gozo]], and in other places around the island like [[Senglea]], [[Birkirkara]], [[Ħal-Luqa]], [[Ħal-Tarxien]], [[Iż-Żejtun]] and others more.

In the last recently years, he always been involved in about five or eight different productions, He got the opportunity to work on tv with different company’s like Bronk Production, [[Herman Bonaci Productions]]. [[dba]], [[Watermelon]], [[Rewind Production]] [[Darc]] and more.
