Alfred is involved in community work with many organizations, including as a Public Officer of the [[Canberra Multicultural Community Forum]] and as Delegate for the [[Migrant and Refugee Settlement Services]].<br />

He is the President of the [[Maltese Australian Association of Canberra and Queanbeyan]] and Treasurer for the [[Federation of Maltese Language Schools]] Inc. He is also a member on the [[Federation of Maltese Living Abroad]].<br />

Alfred is married to Anna (née Mercieca) and they have two children, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. <br />
