New page

The Maltese entry for 1995 fared worse than the previous year and started a three-year spell of mid-table respectable but uninspiring results. 1995's Eurovision Song Contest will forever be remembered as the year Ireland managed to not win after three consecutive top votes.

Composer : Rolf Løvland

Points : 148

==Trivia==

The winning song attracted some criticism as it contained only 24 words. Some Maltese even hinted at plagiarism, insisting that its music was just like the popular Maltese ballad L-Ahhar Bidwi f'Wied il-Għasel (The Last Farmer in the Valley of Honey). Norway's win was never disputed.

Like William Mangion in 1993, Mike Spiteri is considered a rock singer rather than a pop performer and so somewhat unsuitable as a Eurovision contestant. He sang in various rock and metal bands in Malta in the 1970s and 1980s.

Mike Spiteri is now part of the standing Maltese delegation that brings Malta's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. He is also very involved in the annual selection of Malta's entry through the Malta Song for Europe festival.
