The 30th edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu was held on Friday 15 April 2005 at the Audio Vision Studios in Ħamrun broadcast live on PBS during Xarabank presented by Peppi Azzopardi.
94 original songs were submitted, shortlisted to 40 songs by a jury panel, and shortlisted again to 18 finalists by a different jury.

Recognition
The committee has always been proud to recognise the talent of local artists and therefore, in this edition, special awards L-Għanja li Tibqa' were given to Vince Fabri and Manwel Mifsud.
The committee have always put a lot of emphasis on the language and therefore, lyrics are always of the essence in this competition and this was seen within the choice of the jury for the evening, composed of scholars within the linguistics and literary field. This gifts was presented by Dr Josie Muscat the chairman of Eden Foundation because all the profits from tickets and sponsors at the contest were donated to the Eden Foundation.
