The Ninth Edition of the Festival was organized by the Youth Travel Circle (YTC), under the guidance of Fr Maurice Mifsud, by the name of Festival ta' Kant Folk. Seventeen songs took part in the final night on 16 May 1981 at St Albert College, Valletta. The show was compered by Tanya Fenech and Michael Desira.
Silvio Frendo and Laurence Scerri were in charge of the stage while George Pollacco was responsible for sound and audio. Miriam Attard Dougall made the flowering arrangement on the stage.
