-'''Pawlu Degabriele Il-Bies''' was a renowned folksinger from Żejtun. Born on the 11th of April 1908 in Żejtun, he worked the odd jobs, including the laborious task of coal-heaving in the Grand Harbour and later on as a tinsmith.
-He has sung several folk ballads, the most famous being ''Id-Destin'', which recalls his own fate on becoming blind.
-He passed away on the 21 of August, 1980, aged 72. He remains one of the favourites of folk enthusiasts for his passionate voice.
