Glorianna Arpa Belli

Gloriana Arpa Belli was born at Blue Sisters Hospital in San Ġiljan on 16 October, 1979. She is the daughter of established singer Helen Micallef and niece of established singer Renato.

Gloriana has been brought up in a musical environment. She trained domestically under her Mother’s supervision since the age of 7, singing mostly classical music. She subsequently also developed a soprano voice. Two years later, Gloriana developed an interest for pop and soul music and again under her Mother’s supervision, she trained for various years on this genre’.

In 2000, Gloriana began singing professionally in various hotels, wedding masses and receptions, street parties, private functions, local feasts, festivals and competitions. In 2002, Gloriana took part in The Best Singer Award competition, organised by Peter Busuttil during his TV programme Red on Net TV. Gloriana won 1st place in this competition, and eventually became a resident singer on Red.

She was subsequently offered to take part in the programme Siesta also broadcasted on Net TV. Again, in 2006, she took part in the prestigious Golden Cross International Singing Festival held in Gozo together with local and foreign singers. She won first place and was offered to sing abroad.

In 2007 Gloriana was offered to sing in various venues with Mro.Paul Borg’s very renowned Versatile Brass. These venues included the 2007 Indifest, the 2007 International Folk Festival organised in Qala, Gozo and also some performances at the Excelsior Hotel. Again in 2007, Gloriana took part in several TV shows on local TV stations. In September 2007, Gloriana started giving singing lessons to various students at the ‘Artemocion’ School of Arts in Mellieħa.

In November 2007, Gloriana played the part of Helena in the musical Helena – Dramm Musicali, a musical on the life of St.Helena; a production from the Duke of Connaught’s Own Band Club. During 2008, Gloriana took part in the One TV programme Matinee’. In July 2008, Gloriana was a guest singer during the National Philharmonic Orchestra’s ‘Pop Fever Concert’ at the Mediterranean Conference Centre. During 2009, Gloriana sang in various venues together with the Duke’s Festival Band, under the direction of Gloriana’s husband, Mro.Aurelio Belli and is another production of the Duke of Connaught’s Own Band Club.

In August 2010, Gloriana represented Malta in the Universong Canary Islands International Song Festival where she competed with singers from different worldwide countries. She won first place. In September 2010, Gloriana won second place in the Konkors Kanżunetta Indipendenża. In August 2011, 2012 and 2013, Gloriana, together with “Versatile Brass”, performed at the President of Malta’s “August Moon Ball”. In September 2011 and 2013, Gloriana performed at the “Rockestra” accompanied by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Mro.Sigmund Mifsud.

At present, Gloriana is one of the lead singers performing with “Versatile Brass”, during various wedding receptions, festivals and other national events. She is also the lead singer of “Fusion Brass”, a brass band also directed by Mro. Aurelio Belli.

In June 2012, Gloriana joined the Rock Band Posh Beggars as the main vocalist, and spend some months with them doing some gigs and even win the Battle of The Bands Competition.

As from October 2012, Gloriana holds the position of resident singer on John Bundy’s popular weekly current affairs programme “Affari Taghna” on One TV.

To this day, Gloriana continues to sing in various, wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions, functions, hotels, festivals and TV shows and is determined to do so for many years to come.
