The Kite Project is a musical project by six 2d animated characters. They are Annemarie Mayo (vocals), Luke Grech (electric guitars & banjo), Joseph Axiak (keyboards & piano), Janice Ellul (acoustic guitar, Cheyenne Belle Xuereb (bass, ukulele, glockenspiel, & spoken word) and Lesnich Vassallo (drums & percussions).

Conceived by Annemarie and Luke during a long car ride to the Gozo ferry, the project strives "to involve its audiences throughout its duration, as opposed to simply presenting a finished product. Like the project, the kite only depends on a little support to take flight. Its patrons are taken on a journey from concept to realisation, interaction is encouraged, a space for feedback is provided and there is a generous dollop of humour on the side."

Animated cartoons were used to keep interest alive via social media, and the project culminated with the release of a music video for the song Don't Hestitate as well and a 4-track EP released on 26 April 2014. The project is supported by the Malta Arts Fund.
