Past! Present. Future? is a book about the Fondazzjoni Kreattività Art Collection stemming from a research project comprising a series of exhibitions and workshops held at Spazju Kreattiv from January 2016 until April 2019.

This page is designed to hold an interactive table of contents of the book while it is being assembled, written and produced. The book is scheduled for publication in the summer of 2020.

Introduction

A general introduction to the book outlining the contents of the book and giving some background to the purposes of the publication.

Timeline

A timeline outlining the essential milestones that led to the creation, development, and current status of the collection.

Art as Archive

Texts about the collection and the work that has been performed on the collection as part of the research project. Each text will be contextualized and/or edited as needed to ensure that it makes for appropriate reading within the contents of this book:

An introduction to this section of the book, giving an overall sense of these texts in relation to the collection and the overall purpose of the book will be included at the start of this section, unless it is felt that the general introduction is able to serve this purpose well.
  1. Past! Present. Future? - report following January 2016
    A new abridged version of the report will be created for this book, with due credit to all the previous contributors.
  2. Prato Conference Paper - written with Sabrina Calleja Jackson
    This is likely appropriate to reproduce as is, with a contextual note. Sabrina's consent is needed as co-author.

There will also be essays by Toni Sant on the clusters in which he has organized the collection during his tenure as Spazju Kreattiv Artistic Director (2014-2020). These are linked along with the collection (see below).

The Collection

A pictorial section detailing each item in the collection, along with an artist's profile, details about each work of art, and contextual information about the individual pieces.

Works are gathered in clusters, which are still to be titled - unless we decide to simply give them numbers. Click on the cluster number of an introductory essay that provides a curatorial commentary on the works listed in that section.

Most works in the collection have been exhibited as part of the research project between 2016 and 2019. These are all the works being considered for inclusion in the publication, including ones that may not have been exhibited as part of the research project:
